When learning something new, it is essential to engage with the lesson in our own time. It is especially crucial to do so when one gets older and starts learning more complex topics. It also becomes critical that we eventually develop independent learning skills to enhance our understanding of the subjects we aim to study. These skills help us to succeed in school and excel at our jobs.
However, children who come from disadvantaged households do not have the physical space in their homes to dedicate themselves to studying and practising these skills. They also lack the money to purchase the necessary books and other stationery to supplement their education.
Also since the students come from socially backward households, they do not have a favourable atmosphere at home which is suitable for learning.
What can be done?
UPAY has taken the initiative to set up a library in every zone. It is a social place that helps fulfill the necessary educational needs of our students, outside the classroom. In doing so, we aim to encourage independent study skills among our older students.
The library provides our students with a happy, comfortable, and distraction-free environment for studying. Every library is stacked with over 1500 books that will help the students and volunteers to expand their knowledge while assisting them in preparation for entrance exams and higher education studies.
Apart from physical resources, we also bring in mentors and career counsellors to guide the children with their future career choices. They provide sessions on how to prepare for different exams, personality development, and career counselling, among many others.
Support our initiative to bring smiles and transform lives!
