Street children are among the most vulnerable groups in India, having limited access to adult supervision, protection, education, and health care. Living in open spaces, they are at a higher risk of being abused, exploited, and neglected.

This project is envisaged to set up an Integrated Learning Center with a Daycare facility for the street children. The project shall provide the street children with a secure and safe place encompassing various activities like Counseling, Developmental activities, happy learning spaces and Vocational training.

UPAY's Primary Intervention:
The process of learning for underprivileged children has been never easy. They face numerous obstacles to achieving their dreams and access to something as simple as education. Our endeavor to tirelessly & continuously impart education to the underprivileged was greatly hampered too. These children are rarely able to reach school because of many socio-economic issues. UPAY has started the intervention of bringing schools to their doorsteps if they cannot reach the school, let the school reach them. With this concept, UPAY has launched the Footpathshala Initiative to reach out to the children living on the street and footpaths.

Education Sustainability:
Engagement of street children at UPAY's Footpathshaala centres provides them with an environment to learn and grow. But, a short term intervention and prolonged lack of parental guidance makes it difficult to prevent the children from falling prey to various illegal activities and societal exposure. Here's why UPAY is setting up a Day-Boarding center for the education and skill development of street children.

Project Details:
A shift in approach is the need of the hour where this project will help to cut down the time spend by children in the negative atmosphere and would isolate the children for a significant number of hours each day with enough monitoring and supervision. This day boarding project plans to provide holistic development. Over next 3 years, the facility shall be converted into a full-time residential setup to reap maximum learning output.
